Self-Advocate Supports

What is self-advocacy?

Speak up for yourself. Exercise your rights. Follow through on your responsibilities. Make life choices that are right for you. At NYSARC, Inc. we know that when you are a confident self-advocate, your life is richer and our Organization is stronger.

Because we want to work in partnership with you, we offer the following:

  • Opportunities for Self-Advocates to have a voice in the governance of NYSARC through Boards or Committees, including training and ongoing mentoring to support participation
  • Workshops and seminars to provide you with the kind of information you need to make decisions that are right for you
  • Person-centered orientation that highlights your capacities and dreams for the future
  • Technical supports for our Chapters’ self-advocacy groups
  • Strong partnership with the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State

And finally, NYSARC has a dedicated staff person that you may call on at any time with your request for help, questions or concerns.

We enjoy hearing how we may best support you or your self-advocacy group.
