NYSARC is built on a basic philosophy. For over half a century the Association has advocated for and operated on the assumption that individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities are full citizens, entitled to all of the rights and dignity accorded to all other full citizens. This simple assumption takes many forms depending on scores of specific issues.
Thus, each year at our Fall Convention, the Association applies our fundamental philosophy to the many challenges we face through the adoption of an "Issues and Positions Paper". NYSARC's beliefs have distinguished us for over half a century, giving us moral standing which translates into real influence in government and ultimately on the day to day operation of our chapters and the people we serve. |
