 Thousands of people with disabilities can and do work. Thousands more have skills and abilities yet to be tapped. From Alaska to Vermont, people with disabilities are contributing to the economic growth of this country. Some of the best qualified people for your job openings are people with disabilities; people who have proven to be productive, with good attendance records and loyalty to the job and the company. Join the ever growing number of employers who have recognized that the smart money is on businesses that hire Americans with disabilities.
NYSARC Chapters, in cooperation with local business, have worked hard to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Through a variety of programs and services, we can assist you in hiring and training employees with disabilities. Job coaches are available to provide specialized on-site training, accompanying the employee to the job to assist in the initial training period. The job coach may help the worker learn tasks or make suggestions to the employer about suitable adaptations to accommodate the worker. As the new worker becomes familiar with the job, the job coach gradually fades from the work place but is available for re-training or consultation if necessary. |
