We hope you find this site informative, helpful and illuminating. It is intended to be family friendly, useful to professionals and the public. This site is another tool for continuing NYSARC's mission of promoting the well-being of the people and families we serve. This mission, now over a half century old, began in the 1940's. Our accomplishments include, NYSARC's historic suit against the State of New York for the conditions at Willowbrook and creation of a separate Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. It is a proud history. It has achieved national recognition.
We look forward to an equally proud and productive future. We have a vision for the future. This site is one way to reach it. Briefly stated, our vision includes becoming a fully integrated statewide entity tied together by state-of-the-art technology, maximizing both our operational and advocacy potential. And enabling families and consumers to rely on us as their bridge to their vision of the future.
